In the early 1970s, kerosene(is also called as "fire water" in Chinese) and other petroleum products were in short supply due to the impact of the world energy crisis. Therefore, Macao people was faced with the crisis of supply disruption. At that time, Premier Zhou Enlai decided to export domestic oil products to Macao in order to relieve the shortage of heating oil in Macao. In 1972, the first tank of the brand KWONG MING kerosene came to Macao with the profound and warm feelings of the people of the motherland. From that, NKOIL started a glorious history of operating in Macao market of petroleum products.

In 2009, Nam Kwong Natural Gas Company Limited was granted temporary monopoly franchise of urban natural gas pipeline network by the Macao SAR government. In 2012, the "natural gas distribution public service contract" was signed with the government, which marks that the new environmental protection energy has officially entered into thousands of households in Macao and opened a new concept of low-carbon life in Macao.
2013 The coloane natural gas receiving and decompression station was put into trial operation.In 2018, the main natural gas pipeline network is fully covered in Cotai area and extended to Macao. The cognitive degree and application of natural gas continue to expand in Macao. From public housing residents in Seac Pai Van, to University of Macau, to large entertainment hotels and restaurants in Cotai Strip, more and more business and family clients can enjoy the convenience brought by low-carbon and environmentally friendly natural gas.
