The 2019 Zijinshan Summit for Entrepreneurs across the Strait kicked off at the Jiangsu Grand Theater in Nanjing on November 4. Wang Yang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, met representatives across the Strait, attended and addressed the summit. Guo Jinlong, president of the mainland-based council of the summit, Vincent Siew, president of the Taiwan-based council of the summit, Liu Jieyi, director of the Taiwan Work Office of the CPC Central Committee and the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, and Lou Qinjian, Party secretary of Jiangsu Province, were present at the opening ceremony. Guo Jinlong, Vincent Siew and Lou Qinjian addressed the opening ceremony. Representatives of the summit council and Nam Kwong chairman Fu Jianguo attended the group meeting with Wang. Together with renowned business people, heads of industry and commerce organizations, experts and academicians across the Strait participated in the summit. Revolving around the theme of integrated development and common market, attendees made full discussions and exchanged respective insightful views.
As the summit kicked off, the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office and the National Development and Reform Commission unveiled 26 measures to further promote economic and cultural exchanges and cooperation across the Taiwan Strait. Participating entrepreneurs discussed Wang’s speech and the newly introduced 26 measures. They believed they represented major measures to act upon General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches, and fully demonstrated the sincerity of the mainland to do real good things and solve real problems for compatriots in Taiwan. The measures will provide more facilitation and support to Taiwan enterprises in expanding in the mainland market and generate positive results to boost integrated development and build a common market.
